Practical Teaching Exercises

PAD I is an organized network of activities aimed at integrating theory into practice. The theoretical basis of PAD is the theory of knowledge construction, according to which knowledge is actively built by students, starts from their own pre-existing knowledge, observations and experiences and is promoted socially through their interactions.

1. Purposes
The purpose of PAD I is to equip students, future teachers, with building skills in a modern learning environment in which authentic learning is produced.
Sub-objectives are the students:

• To understand in simulation conditions the multifaceted and multilevel nature of teaching.
• To realize the necessity of applying modern didactic approaches and innovative teaching practices.
• To develop skills of planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the teaching practice.

2. Objectives
After the completion of the PAD I laboratory, the students will be able to:
• To choose a didactic unit of a course of their specialty and to clearly state what they will teach (concepts) and why they will teach it (objectives).
• To select, design and apply modern teaching methods framed with appropriate techniques and means.
• To integrate in the methods that apply modern evaluation techniques.
• To analyze the elements that compose the teaching building form, to complete it and to implement it in simulation conditions.
• Apply, justify and / or evaluate specific teaching scenarios.

3. Outline of Thematic Content – Implementation
The total of the activities that constitute the PAD I are shown in the following table:

3 Carrying out one (1) Preliminary Teaching
4 Attendance of twelve (12) Micro-teachers
5 Attendance of six (6) Preliminary Teachings

During PAD I students are divided into groups and teach in simulation conditions, in specially equipped classrooms, PAD laboratories.
The micro-lessons are 15-minute lessons given by the students in simulation conditions in the group of their fellow students / three, in the presence of a teacher-supervisor.

The specific teaching is videotaped and shown, so that the student / student and the other members of the group can analyze it and search for more effective and / or innovative activities for its implementation, along with feedback and improvement interventions. of the supervisor.

Preliminary is a 30-minute lesson that takes place on the same terms as videotaping and projection.
The attendance of micro-teachers and pre-schoolmates / three expands the knowledge and skills of the team members through their active participation in the whole process.

PAD II is the culmination of the pedagogical training of students and includes activities implemented in schools of Secondary Education. They aim to connect theory with teaching practice, demonstrating that teaching is a single, open, non-standard process, but one that requires planning, organization, planning and preparation. During them, the students attend the current teaching of teachers and carry out a teaching, the undergraduate, in a specific class. Thus, they are involved in activities of transforming the content of teaching, focusing on students’ perceptions and the possibilities of available technological tools and at the same time are practiced in real conditions.

1. Purpose
The purpose of PAD II is for students to understand the phenomenon of teaching, as it takes place in real conditions, and to be provided with skills for designing and implementing modern teaching and learning environments.

2. Objectives
After the completion of PAD II, students will be able to:
• To observe the teaching and the management of the classroom by the current teachers in specific school units as well as the student climate.
• To state clearly and precisely what they will teach (concepts) and why they will teach it (objectives) in a given unit of their specialty.
• To select, design and apply in real conditions, modern teaching methods framed with appropriate techniques and means.
• To integrate in the methods that apply modern evaluation techniques.
• To compose the teaching building form, focusing on the specific student potential and to implement it in real conditions.
• To carry out modern and innovative teachings.

3. Outline of Thematic Content – Implementation
The total of the activities that constitute the PAD II are shown in the following table:

α/α PAD ΙΙ
1 Information on PAD II
2 Attendance of eight (8) Teaching hours in School Units
3 Carrying out Graduate Teaching

Classroom teaching, in courses related to the specialty of the students / three, offers valuable experiences for the design and creation of a suitable learning environment that supports the cultivation of multiple skills.

Graduate teaching is an independent teaching that takes place in real conditions within the classroom. Prior to its realization, the students work with the class teacher to determine the unit they will teach and use their attendance so that their teaching is structured, with the focus on the student audience of the specific class. . At the same time, the design and preparation with the completion of a building form as well as the creation and use of the means that the students deem necessary for its implementation, are key elements of the whole process.

In conclusion, the PAD system, as applied to the collaborating school units, ensures the complete pedagogical education of the students of ASPETE.

The evaluation is carried out with specific criteria related to the teaching planning, programming and implementation of teaching. More specifically, the data / criteria taken into account for the evaluation of each teaching are fully defined and have been communicated to the students during their briefing on the PAD system.
In PAD I the total grade is the average of all teachings and is expressed on a scale of 1-100, which is then reduced to a scale of 1-10 with one decimal place.

In PAD II the total score is the degree of graduate teaching. The specific teaching is supervised and evaluated by the class teacher or by a person appointed by the Principal of the school unit.
Finally, a student who scores less than 50 in any teaching must repeat it.
